Dj Tira | Makoya Bearings
Born Mthokozisi Khathi (1976 August 24) in the peaceful environment of KwaHlabisa and affectionately known as ‘Dj Tira’ to the general public relocated to Durban in 1995 to study Human Resources at the University of Kwazulu-Natal. It was love at first sight for a music loving Dj Tira when he was introduced to the art of deejaying in his first year of tertiary schooling. His love quickly turned into passion when he saved his spending money to purchase his first vinyl, the perfectionist in him drove him to mastering the art of dj’ing in a short space of time. He quickly gained popularity playing at varsity parties, weddings and numerous private events.
Dj Cndo | Finest Lady
Born Sindiswe Zungu 1984 in the beauty of the great Uthukela River in Mandeni and moved to the bright City lights of Durban to avoid a 45 minute long drive after enrolling into Mangosuthu Technikon. It was after settling in at Tertiary that she felt she needed a challenge outside academics. It didn’t take much pondering for her to realize her love for music; she secretly fell in love with then growing music genre, House-Music a love that introduced her to the art of Dj’ng. After realizing that she wanted to spin discs for a living she then took a gigantic step towards realizing her dream by enrolling at Durban’s Finest Dj Academy where her wits came in handy as she defied all stereotypes by capturing the vital aspect of the art in a short space of time. Her mixing was parallel to none in her class with a blend of ambition and passion that drove her into playing at campus parties and formal functions.
Big Nuz | Nuz
Big Nuz consists of a super talented trio namely, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, Sbusiso “R Mashesha” Khoma and Mzi “Danger” Tshomela all three born and raised in Umlazi, Durban’s Southern townships. Deep is the foresight laced in their group name as the prefix “Big” could only mean destined for bigger things in life and “NUZ” taken from Umlazi’s vehicle registration plates, arguably the second biggest township in South Africa. It was in 2002 when they decided to officially form Big Nuz after realizing that their friendship was deeply rooted in music which at times left them wondering if they weren’t separated at birth. They didn’t waste anytime in 2002 as they embarked on a journey to the City of gold, Johannesburg in pursuit of a recording deal, only to be met with challenges as their every knock on music executives door fell on deaf ears.
Dj Fisherman | Fish
Born Sifiso Mjoli, DJ Fisherman was born KwaNdengezi (township on the west of Durban). Sifiso went to school in the area and when in High School he developed an interest in House Music after hearing so much good music at the time. Julien Jabre’s “Jungle” song was the one that took Fisherman in to the music. At the time Frankie Knuckles, Kenny Dope, Gregory, Robbiera and of course Louis Vega were all producing hot house music which all inspired Fisherman just to be like them on day. He learned to deejay in the year 2002 and started playing around the area in taverns and shows within the township. From there he learned to produce music in his bedroom at home inspired by all the good producers named above. He gave himself time to master Fruity Loops and did his first track “Mhlabe”. That track was never released but it became popular in the province (KwaZulu-Natal). That track gave him popularity as people wanted to know who had done the track.
Duncan | Skuva
Duncan stepped his first foot in the Music Industry, when he was featured by Zakwe on his Gold Selling Album, track titled Isukile. Months later Duncan recorded and shot a video for his street single titled Khayalami featuring Prokid, Redbutton, Zakwe & Musa. His street cred was built and a strong recognition across was received. Recently he was featured on Big Nuz latest offering “Made In Africa”. Duncan’s single “Tsiki Tsiki” sampled from the legendary Mdu Masilela enjoyed high rotation on all television networks and urban radio stations before the release of his debut album titled “Street Government”.
AfroBoyz | Ezase
AFROBOYZ is made up of a super talented trio from Durban, namely Sbo Khathi, Lucky Zungu alias “Dj Gukwa” and Nkosinathi Zungu popularly known as “Costah”. The trio joined forces in 2011 and fast became a formidable beat making team to be reckoned with to date. They enjoyed long individual careers as producer/dj’s before grouping themselves as Afroboyz, a well deserved name as all three have produced smash hits for the stable.
Sir Bubzin | Super Producer
Born Bongani Cele in Durban, Kwa-Mashu 23 Feb 1981 popularly known as Sir Bubzin is one of South Africa’s prominent producers having made his mark in the mainstream by producing Dj Tira’s most memorable smash hit “I Won’t Let You Go” Ft Joocy. He has recently produced two major follow up singles for BIG NUZ, “Inazo” and “Incwadi Yothando” off their latest offering, Made In Africa.
Museeq IQ | Themba Khumalo
Museeq IQ credits his father Themba Khumalo as being the biggest influence in his music career. His earliest memories are of his fathers’ music collection and the sounds that filled their humble home. Born in Kwa Mashu 11 January 1983, Siphiwe Khumalo, developed a strong ear for music through listening to some of the world’s greatest musicians from an early age. His father was a massive music fan and his hunger for good music dominated their family life. Museeq IQ grew up listening to the sounds of Motown, Jazz, Afro Jazz, Blues, Soul and Funk. Artist like Marvin Gaye, Micheal Franks, Maze,Barry White, Hugh Masakela, Etta James, Ray Charles, Little Richard and James Brown were the soundtrack to his life. Growing up in Kwa Mashu has also had a major influence on his development as a musician and his adolescent years were definitely dominated by the sounds of Kwaito, Hip Hop and House Music.

An artist of his caliber has a documented profile, which people – young and old – can relate to and are relishing.
Multi-talented Anga Makubalo aka NaakMusiQ was born in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth. As a young kid he relocated with his mom to Johannesburg and in 2003 he was accepted at Edenvale high school on a sports bursary where he participated on the following sports codes: Soccer, cricket, athletics and rugby.
